Nana Akufo-Addo, according to Mrs Osei, polled 5, 716, 026 votes in 271 constituencies to emerge winner in his third presidential attempt. Celebrations on the streets of Bantama In the Ashanti Region, the stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), TV3‘s Benjamin Aidoo reported that pre-declaration jubilations were already underway before the EC “brought them the good news”. 

TV3‘s Ibrahim Abubakar also reports from the same Region that both young and old were in joyous celebration mood at Afigya Zongo and Tech Junction. Tamale’s hours of silence was broken with jubilation In Nana Akufo-Addo’s home region, Eastern Region, TV3‘s Yvonne Neequaye reports that residents could not hide their joy at the news that one of their own will lead Ghana at least for the next four years. 

The Central Business District of Koforidua, Yvonne further said, is choked with jubilant supporters. In the Northern Region, the home region of defeated candidate John Dramani Mahama, TV3’s Godfred Tanam reports that after long hours of silence, Tamale erupted into jubilation after Mrs Osei’s announcement. In Afienya, TV3’s Selorm Amenya reports of jubilant supporters of the NPP. 
Takoradi, the Western Region capital town, was not left out as residents broke the night of silence, TV3’s Ebenezer Abakah reported, to celebrate the announcement that Nana Akufo-Addo has won the elections. 

Takoradi Constituency was won by the NPP At Abeka in Accra, TV3’s Stanley Blewu reported that NPP supporters took to the streets to express their joy at the news. 
He added that the celebrations on the streets caused vehicular traffic. In Tema, TV3’s Josephine Frempong reports that residents went agog at the news of Nana Akufo-Addo winning the elections. In both the Tema West and Tema East constituencies, wild jubilations were all over, she reported. 

In the Central Region capital of Cape Coast, TV3‘s Spencer Kwabena Boateng Mensah reported that jubilant NPP supporters are dancing to tunes of Onaapo, one of the campaign songs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). 

He added that others are preparing to embark on a celebration march across the Cape Coast South Constituency.

Thank`s to all, who voted! After receiving your pre-election votes since June/July 2015, we are now able, after 1000`s of votes, to calculate the percentage of votes for NPP or NDC. After doing or "home-work", the result is quiet clear, in favour of the NPP. 
Intentionally, other parties are not included, at the moment. But, there is a strong indication, that PPP will be the No 3, and therefore probably the "King-Maker", if our calculation is wrong, and there is a "Run-Off".

<![CDATA[Brave cab driver to be rewarded for 'crashing' robbers]]>Tue, 12 Jan 2016 02:29:44 GMThttp://ghanamirror.com/ghana-news-headlines/brave-cab-driver-to-be-rewarded-for-crashing-robbersSource: citifmonline. com - The taxi driver who thwarted the escape of two robbers involved in the Cantonments robbery incident will receive a “handsome” reward, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command ASP Afia Tenge has announced.
At a press briefing following the robbery incident on Sunday, ASP Tenge revealed, “I have the directives of the Inspector-General of Police to announce that at an appropriate time, the taxi driver and all those who contributed to the arrest of the suspects will be handsomely rewarded.”

Former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has since the incident congratulated the taxi driver for his brave action.

The two robbers, Obaleko Stanley, 35 and Oko Quarcoo, 30, attacked and shot a lady in her leg near the American Embassy at East Cantonments and tried to escape with her belongings.

The taxi driver, who was a witness to the robbery incident, pursued the two robbers who were escaping on a motorbike and crashed into them with his car, injuring the robbers and leading to their arrest.

They sustained fractures and are on admission at the Police Hospital.

The robbery is reported to have been orchestrated by one Gilbert Osabutey, 36, a supervisor at the Koala Shopping centre where the victim also worked as a sales girl.

Gilbert Osabutey and another accomplice, 28-year old Michael Doe Ahiataku, a security man, have been arrested and are in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.

The victim is currently on admission at the 37 military hospital and is responding to treatment.

Flt Lt Rawlings also praised a soldier who intervened after the driver’s action.
“The boldness exhibited by the taxi driver was truly heroic and patriotic. At the risk of his own life he confronted these armed men, damaged his taxi in the process and ensured they did not escape the law. We should all applaud his courage. The two men deserve national recognition for their bravery,” the former President said. 

The robbers shot and wounded their victim, reportedly a sales girl of Koala Supermarket. The driver rammed into the fleeing robbers who were on a motorbike and pushed them into a drain. 
Even in their wounded state the robbers continued shooting till an armed soldier who chanced upon the incident intervened and ensured the arrest of the two robbers. The victim who sustained gunshot wounds on the leg is undergoing treatment at the 37 Military Hospital. Meanwhile, the Police say a supervisor at the Cantonments Branch of the Koala Shopping Mall, masterminded the robbery.
